Frequency and voltage control and stability are important topics of the power and energy systems research at the Electrical Energy Laboratory (EELAB).
Flexibility is a focal area in the current research. The provision of flexibility at both supply and demand side and by means of storage devices, and at different time scales is investigated. In particular, the potential offered by the integration of different energy carriers for flexibility purposes is analysed. Also grid constraints (e.g. congestion) play an increasing role in this context.
Flexibility is also investigated at different power and voltage levels, ranging from residential flexibility to flexibility of energy-intensive sectors such as the chemical industry.
